As the demand for data centers grows rapidly, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence applications and cloud computing, so the need for cooling solutions tailored to the energy-intensive requirements of this sector increases. Considering the need to keep data centers constantly temperature controlled and their growing number and the need for sustainable solutions for this purpose, Daikin decided to put its 100 years of experience in the HVAC sector to the service of the data center industry.
To this end, Daikin has developed a dedicated solution for data centers and will present it at the Data Center World event, which is a global conference for data center professionals and is the largest gathering of industry professionals and end users. Sustainability is an increasingly important topic in the data center industry. Daikin recognizes this imperative and is committed to minimizing energy and water consumption. This focus is aligned with the priorities of legislators, investors and employees, all of whom require companies to address environmental issues and fulfill their corporate responsibilities. Daikin has set ambitious goals to achieve zero-emission operations by 2050 and is working closely with its customers to support its decarbonisation goals.
The Daikin chiller range features screw compressors with in-house designed and manufactured Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) mounted directly on the compressor for improved reliability and efficiency. These VFDs are refrigerant cooled for improved reliability, especially in extreme environmental conditions where traditional air-cooled VFDs can fail. Thanks to VFD technology, Daikin chillers offer precise modulation of cooling loads, with capacities up to 2150 kW for compressor units and up to 1344 kW for compressor scroll chillers. This flexibility makes them suitable for a wide range of applications, from retrofit projects to large-scale developments.
Daikin chillers are capable of delivering water temperatures up to +30°C and can operate efficiently in a wide range of outdoor temperature conditions from -30°C to +55°C. This adaptability is highly valued by large data center operators who manage increasingly dense server configurations and related equipment. In addition to chillers, Daikin offers the Pro-W range of Computer High Efficiency Processing Room (CRAH) solutions, manufactured in both the UK and Italy. With cooling capacities ranging from 200kW to 700kW, these units are suitable for even the largest data centers.
